    A good show on Saturday

Sunday, April 29, 2007, 08:38 AM EST [General]

We had a district show yesterday.  We had to decide whether to take 4 horses or 7.  We decided on 4.  Our trailer was filled with Cruz, Pee-Wee, Smokey and Earl.  1 horse for each of us and the boys both ride Smokey.

In the jackpot class, I won the 3D, Ryan won the 4D and Stephanie also placed in the 4D on Earl(his first actual show being entered).  None of us were thrilled, but happy to win checks.  In the NBHA Class, I was just out of placing in the 1D!  Cruz came back and really worked well.  I still had a couple small errors that slowed us down, but to have improved over half a second, and have 3 decent barrels, I was not upset.  I told him I'd give him the next few weeks off until our State Show-I think he understood what I was saying.  Ryan cut 8 tenths off of his time and was just out of placing in the 3D this time.  He would have liked to of placed, but his run was really smooth and clean so he was not upset.  Stephanie got 4 tenths faster and placed in the 4D.  This is great.  Earl has not been hauled.  He is patterned but needs seasoning.  He has a lot of room for improvement.  The pen got slower for the NBHA Class, so I was really impressed that all of our horses cut time off the clock.

I plan to keep Cruz fit, but am going to focus on my other riding horses for the next couple weeks...  Scrapie, Corey and yes, Fire.  All of them could easily step up into our first string of barrel horses.  All in all, Corey has more speed and quickness in his turn than any other horse we own.  Scrapie was loping the pattern in just a couple weeks and can really turn.  And Fire, shoot enough said.  He was just meant to be a barrel horse.  Between Cruz & Fire, they just came here as barrel horses, I just had to show them the pattern.

Today, we have teasing and breeding to do.  I am sure we will need to collect both stallions, and breed quite a few mares.  Saturday seems to be our only real day off.  I am headed out to get started.  Hope you had a great weekend!

    What a Friday!

Friday, April 27, 2007, 09:07 PM EST [General]

We had our 1st of 2 Dash Ta Fame babies born today:)  I am so excited.  Our mare that we own with Lance Graves, Coup De Oh-AAA daughter of Coup De Kas, and mother of BBR World 1D Champion, Coup De Alibi, had her 1st baby via ET born this morning.  We are pleased to announce we have a beautiful brown stud colt with a blaze face and 3 socks!  Lots of chrome!!!  Our other recipient mare is due in 2 weeks.  We plan to breed Coup De Oh back to Z later this year.  Want to make sure both of our Fame babies arrive in great shape.  1 down, and 1 to go.

Talk about a busy Friday!  We had our busiest shipping day of the year.  Z and Fire performed outstanding!  Our vet was here also, and confirmed several mares in foal.  That is always exciting.

We will be headed to a district show tomorrow.  A little over an hour away.  Not too bad of a drive.  Taking either 4 or 6 horses.  We've not made up our minds yet.  As tired as we all are today, I am leaning towards just 4...  That's enough.

    Thanks for stopping by...

    A relaxing Thursday

Thursday, April 26, 2007, 10:29 AM EST [General]

Almost Friday!  Thank goodness.  We have the farrier here right now, and the vet will be here this afternoon.  We have several follicle checks to perform and some pregnancy checks to perform as well.  I like those best.  It's really cool to see a baby at 14 or 15 days, and then to meet it 11 or so months later.  It's awesome.

We put the 2 outside mares & babies out this morning.  And we always take a seat and watch them play and explore for a few minutes.  It is the cutest thing to watch them run and play and get close to each other, and then scare each other.  The Z colt that is here is just awesome.  He is big, and flashy and super pretty.  I am so impressed with him.  If my friend Marcus would just sell me his mother...  I would be so happy:)  LOL.  All kidding aside, he's one incredible baby.  I am just proud to call him a Z baby.

I am looking forward to taking Z & Fire to OK next month.  Anyone interested in meeting us all, can come to Lance Graves' place the end of May through the first couple weeks of June.  I am taking the boys out there to breed mares at Lance's and any clients interested.  It should be a fun trip.  My pal JD is riding along with me.  We are also taking out open horses, Cruz & Tiny.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog.

    A working Wednesday

Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 08:30 AM EST [General]

It's hump day-half way to the weekend.  That means shippers and on farm breeding.  Both stallions are working exceptionally well.  I am very proud of both of them.  Still no babies.  Come on.  These mares are killing me!  I want a little one I can play with, halter break, etc.

I am also so excited that this members area is taking off.  Thank you all for sharing with us.  The members total is jumping every time I visit.  Who would have thought that 10 years ago this little Web site would be the home of such a diverse, and wonderful group of people.

This is on a completely different subject.  On Sunday night, we went out to dinner with a few friends and our boys.  As I sat at the table and looked at everyone sitting around it, I felt honored to be blessed with such great friends.  JD...  You've been the best friend I could ever have asked for-You are my Gail:)  Stephanie...  I don't believe I have ever laughed as much until you came here!  Brian...  You better get your game ready!  Ryan...  Thank you for everything and your unwavering faith in me.  Thank you for letting me follow my dreams.  Thank you for being my constant rock.  Dylan & Ethan...  I love you both and you make me prouder than you could ever have imagined.

Having had a very rough end to 2006, it was hard to end a friendship with some of our closest friends.  There just seemed to be constant drama surrounding them, and that was not positive on me or my family.  I stop and consider it a blessing now, but struggled just a few months ago.  It's amaizing how something so hurtful can be the biggest motivational experience for a person.

It's time to get all of our morning cleaning done.

    Thanks for stopping by,
