    In Loving Memory

Saturday, September 13, 2008, 12:30 PM CST [General]

Tex died in a tragic accident that no one in the world could have prevented. He died on August 18, 2008 at 6:36pm. I can't go into details b/c it is too much pain for me.HE WAS A GREAT HORSE.When we first got him I have to admit I was a little scared of him.He would just have bursts of energy and there was no way to predict when he might take off. I finally got over it and he would come up and lick my hand for a treat. Then we sent him for training to ride and that was a mistake. The trainer had no idea what he was doing.I don't care his name is Steve Strickland.Tex only stayed for 3 days and we went to see him and he was in a super small eletric fence and he was skinny and scared to be touched. We went and picked him up the next morning. It took a while for him to adjust back to his normal self.Shortly after he came home he went partical blind in his right eye. That was hard for me and him b/c he became scared of everything.I still to this day believe that Steve Strickland caused his partial blindness.Anyway, we finally found a better trainer. He stayed in training for over a year and J D Cornett had him rideable. He put Wayne on the ground several times while he was in training. Then when I started riding him he put me on the ground twice b/c he was scared.I wasn't mad or anything how would you feel if u was a horse that couldn't see partially and someone was on your back. That would scare me too.He came home and settled down nicely. He was such a good riding horse. He was better than all the others.I actually got up the nurve to ride him bareback.he was perfect. All I had on him was a noseband and tiedown. He was so perfect.I miss him so much. I only wish that he was still here with me.Most people have no idea what horses and humans mean to each other.Tex was closer to me than most of my family and not only was he my best friend he was my baby. Now when I hear Keith Anderson's song "I Sill Miss You" I think of Tex and wish that I could just have one more minute with him...I would hug his neck and tell him that I love him and give him his favoite food a doggy bone treat. He liked the green ones the best.
