I used to have the same problem with my horse....So what my barrel trainer told me to do was....When your practicing at home....trot him or her to the barrel...stop her about 2 feet away from the barrel..back her up two or three steps...then bump her with your inside foot....and make her bend her body ...if you bump her with your leg..and kind of help her get her neck bent by using both hands she'll bend right on around that barrel..just practice that....and she'll realize that when she feels you bump her side...she better bend on around that barrel..so she can get close and not hit it....or you can try to go by the barrel a little ways..but i wouldn't do that because it adds to your time...so try that..it helped me alot.... Also when you are practicin make your barrels wider. When I practice at an arena I go pretty much to the fence on the backside of the first and second. Don't let her get too close. It's hard to explain with out bein able to draw it. I was also gonna say use spurs.. but looks like I'm too late. Bailey |

Have you tried a spur or maybe trying to pick up her shoulder or pick up her shoulder and move her over at the same time. Ashley
